Local Atlanta business woman Audrie Eidson has launched a unique new retail website, Giftit Women, featuring a product line of gifts and accessories designed, created, and inspired by other women. The site, www.giftitwomen.com, includes handcrafted jewelry, spa products, baby gifts, golf and tennis accessories, purses, handbags, totes and other accessory products for women.
Eidson began development of the on-line business in fall 2006. She previously served as a vice president with Aquent, a global staffing and consulting firm, opening and operating the company’s Atlanta branch for ten years before moving on to VP of Global Accounts. During that time, she opened three successful spin-off companies which offered creative design and web services. For the past four years, Eidson has been a stay-at-home mom with sons Max (5) and Alex (10).
“The business really began by coincidence,” explained Eidson. “While I was at home with my children, I began representing lady’s golf and tennis accessories created by a friend to local pro shops.” Soon, several other friends asked Eidson to represent their product lines to local retailers. All the companies she represented happened to be women-owned. “I saw so many wonderful products created by women,” continued Eidson. “I wanted to create a channel for these products to reach the consumer.”
Eidson says she truly loves the product lines she carries and plans on adding more lines throughout the year. “The products on the website are not products you’ll find at all of the malls,” said Eidson. “I like to refer to the site as ‘boutique shopping on-line.’ These are really special pieces that you will only find at a specialty store or an artist’s market, and the women behind them all have a story to tell.”
